The Juneteenth virtual event is an engaging way to discover America’s untold stories. Lonely Planet featured this event as one of the best ways to honor Juneteenth.
First, your team will learn about Emancipation Day and stories of leaders and allies. In addition, discover why barbecue has been a celebration food.
Historically, African Americans celebrated Emancipation Day and Juneteenth with red foods, including the modern “Juneteenth food trinity” of barbecue, watermelon, and red drinks. During the event, the guides specifically address how these historic celebration foods were warped into negative stereotypes. We are proud to feature incredible Black-owned small businesses in the Juneteenth Treat Boxes, who reclaim these red foods and drinks to honor and celebrate Emancipation and their ancestors.
Further, this experience includes two live-streaming visits. Specifically, your team will be inspired by visits to Hampton, Virginia, where they will see Point Comfort, the location where the first enslaved Africans landed in 1619, and the Texas African American History Monument in Austin, Texas.
This is NOT a lecture. Instead, this accurate and thoughtful interactive experience honors the history and traditions of Juneteenth.

“The Juneteenth tour was highly organized. Every piece of information was relevant in building the overall story of the tour. Our tour guides were everything you would want in tour guides. They were funny, knowledgeable, well-spoken, creative.”
